Open Mic-er Successfully Explains Failed Joke to Audience (Satire)

Thursday night at Karl’s Brews in Boise, Idaho Justin Taylor struck comedy gold. He told a pun based joke that fell flat. But then after going into an in-depth explanation of what he was going for, he totally turned things around. Once the audience actually understood the joke they all erupted with boisterous laughter. Generally joke explanations end with ohhhs, groans or tight lipped smiles accompanied by head nodding.

“I don’t fault them for not being familiar with the 80s show Night Rider,” said Taylor. “Though I was sure everyone would pick up what ‘KITT’ I was talking about, especially since there was a reboot series not too long ago. And then when you buy a robot cat that has a really sweet disposition, it’d be hilarious to call him Kit-Katt. Ya know, like the wafer candies that are also sweet? And also, it’s a robot like KITT.”

In this writer’s opinion, one thing is for sure, in the coming years Justin Taylor will be a comedic talent to be reckoned with.
